About
An honest little internet company, with big-company craft.
MADDev is a Drupal studio based in Diego Suarez, in the north of Madagascar. We build complex, data-rich, accessible websites for research institutions, NGOs, universities, and organisations with real content challenges. We are small, senior, and deliberate — not a large agency with many clients and thin attention.
The studio was founded in 2025. The team is Malagasy. The work is the kind that larger European studios charge five times more to do.
The founder
The studio was founded by a Dutch developer with 25 years of full-stack web experience: working environments that include UNEP, Intergraph, The Garage Amsterdam, and Coosto — a career built in European web development before bringing that experience to Madagascar.
This is the founder's professional history, not a client list for MADDev. MADDev is a new company. The experience it is built on is not.
The full career record — technical work, open-source contributions, and ongoing web experiments — lives at rudilambert.com.
Why Madagascar?
Because this is home, and because it is an interesting place to build a company.
Diego Suarez is a city of about 150,000 people in the north of Madagascar. It is not a hub for tech companies. That is part of the point. Talent here is real — there are good developers, good engineers, people who want careers in the knowledge economy — but the opportunities are few. Building a formal, fair, sustainable studio here is a specific choice about where to put the work.
This is not a development project. MADDev is a commercial company, run commercially, that happens to be creating decent digital-economy jobs in a place where they are rare. The local impact is a consequence of that, not the reason for it. Though it is, honestly, a good reason too.
The founder's project history
The full record of the founder's 25+ years of Dutch web development — projects built before MADDev, shown here as the experience the studio is founded on — is at the track record page. These are not MADDev client projects.
