Pricing

Enterprise Drupal, honestly priced.
Enterprise Drupal, honestly priced.

There is a simple reason MADDev can price the way it does: the cost base in Madagascar is not the cost base in Amsterdam. That is not a compromise. It is a structural fact.

The founder trained and worked in the Netherlands for 25 years — at UNEP, at The Garage Amsterdam, at Coosto. The quality standard is Dutch. The invoice is not.

Every figure below is indicative. We quote a fixed price per project. The number we give you is the number you pay — no surprises.

What it costs — indicative figures

Figures are indicative benchmarks. EU figures reflect typical Western European agency rates for comparable-complexity projects. MADDev quotes are fixed per scoped project.

Why Madagascar?

Because it is home. The founder has lived and worked in Diego Suarez, in the north of Madagascar, and the studio is here — not as a cost-optimisation play, but because this is where we are building something: a team, a company, a local model that works.

The price difference is real. It exists because the cost of a good salary in Diego Suarez is not the cost of a good salary in Rotterdam. Not because we pay less than we should — we pay fair wages, by local standards, with a path to partnership for every developer. Because the local economy is simply different.

For clients, this means enterprise-grade Drupal at a price that used to be impossible. For the team, it means a genuinely well-paid job in a city where those are rare, with a stake in the company as they grow.

That is the whole story. There is no catch.

FAQ
Are these real prices or "from" prices?
They are indicative benchmarks, not minimums. A simple corporate site with no custom integrations sits at the lower end. A multilingual research portal with live data feeds and accessibility compliance sits higher. Every scoped project gets a fixed quote — not a time-and-materials bill with a floor.
What does enterprise Drupal actually cost?
With a European agency, a well-built corporate or research Drupal site — structured content model, multilingual if needed, WCAG-compliant, with custom integrations — runs €60,000–120,000. With MADDev, the equivalent runs €8,000–18,000. The quality standard is the same. The invoice reflects where the work is done.
Do you bill by the hour?

No. We quote a fixed price per project. Scope and price are agreed before we start — the number we give you is the number you pay. No hourly billing, no time-and-materials invoices, no surprises at the end. If scope changes significantly, we discuss it openly before absorbing or billing for it. The default is: what we quoted is what you pay.

Can NGOs and universities afford this?
That is the point. The organisations that need sophisticated Drupal most — NGOs, universities, research institutes — are typically the ones that have been priced out of it by European agency rates. MADDev's price point exists to serve exactly that market.
What about hidden costs — hosting, maintenance, content migration?
We are transparent about scope. Hosting is arranged separately and costed clearly. Maintenance plans start from €400/month. Content migration (from an existing CMS or from spreadsheets) is scoped and quoted before the project starts. We do not build projects with loss-leader rates and recover margin in the maintenance contract.
Is there a minimum project size?
We work best on projects with a real scope — a proper content model to design, integrations to build, or a migration to manage. Very small sites (5-page brochures) are not our best fit. The economics are better for both sides on a project with real complexity.
